So we have been in Columbia for a week and we are pretty well settled in! Last Saturday night, Mike and Stephanie threw one last BBQ for us. It was nice to see everyone before we left. It was nice outside so some people were playing corn hole or bean bag toss outside, Mike was grilling and some were chatting. After we ate, some of us played a card game called golf.
Andrew wanted to play too!
A big thank you to Mike and Stephanie for letting us stay at their house until we left for Columbia!
THANK YOU so much!!!! We appreciate it very much!!!!
Sunday Matt, Butch and I headed over to the Gardner house one last time. We had to get the food out of the fridge and some things we left behind for us to use. The semi truck came on the 26th to pack the house up and they were done on the 28th. We didn't have anything from the house, only the things we left behind.
The semi that would eventually be holding our whole house!
Boxes...
boxes...
boxes...
and boxes!
We were out of the house in about an hour. Matt noticed the new owners of the house were over at the park and went over to tell them we were done moving out. It was nice to meet the new owners of the house and know that it was left in good hands. We said one final goodbye and went back to Mike and Stephanie's house.
Bye bye ;(
After lunch, we packed up the rest of our things and Andrew, Matt and I headed to Columbia. My allergies were getting the best of me and I was not feeling good that day. Thankfully we made it to Columbia. We weren't closing on the house till Monday so we were staying in a hotel for the next two nights. Sunday night we relaxed at the hotel.
Monday morning we had a final walk through with our Realtor Scott at noon, then the closing appointment was at 1 pm. We closed on the house and could not be happier with the house we purchased! Butch and Sandy came up that afternoon to help us move into the house. They were a huge help not only with moving things but with Andrew as well. On Tuesday the semi truck arrived and they unloaded the truck. It took most of the day and we were surrounded by BOXES!!!
Our new home!
My view of the TV on the first night lol!
I planned to go back to work on Wednesday, but went to the doctors office on Monday. I was diagnosed with an ear/sinus infection so I decided to take Wednesday off as well. For those of you that don't know, my work gave me the option to keep my job, continue to work from home but it Columbia. Very, very blessed to be working from home and doing what I love to do!
We continued unpacking boxes, boxes and more boxes. Fun fact for the day, we had a total of 201 boxes packed from the house plus the furniture! Friday Butch and Sandy headed back to Kansas City and we continued to unpack things into the weekend. We have been in the house for six days now and we have most of the boxes unpacked. The master bedroom/bathroom/closet, hall bathroom, most of the kitchen, family room upstairs and Andrew's room are pretty much done. I mostly need to start to hanging stuff up.
The kitchen in this house is a little smaller and definitely have less cabinet space. Some of the kitchen stuff is in the guest room right now just because I don't have the space. Our friend Jon is coming over sometime this week to look at the kitchen and figure out how to create more cabinet space. Remodel kitchen project #2 here we come, wahoo!!!
Yesterday we finalized our final prices and bought new appliances for the kitchen! They will be delivered on Thursday and I am super excited for my new fridge!!! Fridge on the top with french doors and freezer on the bottom.
Andrew starts daycare on Tuesday and will be going three days a week (Tuesday-Thursday). Matt has Monday's off and Friday's are normally not too busy for me. I think he will have a blast playing with other children his age and learning new things. It will be interesting to see how he does! I am very excited for him.
Overall we are very happy with how everything is going here!
