Easter Weekend

The Friday before Easter, Andrew and I headed up to Olathe for a packed weekend of family and freind events! Mike and Stephanie were so kind to let us stay at their house again. Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it! Friday night we got to Mike and Steph's house and just relaxed for the rest of the evening.  Andrew hadn't been feeling well, so we needed it.
Saturday, Andrew and I hung out at the house with Myranda and Preston while Mike and Stephanie had to take their Realtor exam.  We ate lunch, then headed to watch Jaxson play soccer and Wayners coach! It was so neat seeing all the little kids play soccer.  Can't wait till Andrew starts playing sports! After that, Andrew and I headed to a baby shower for my friend Kelly.  She was in town visiting from Boston along with her husband and their 2 month old girl Grace.  She was so sweet and so tiny!  I also got to see April 1 and April 2 which is always a nice treat.

Saturday night we went out to dinner with Mitch, Carolyn and the kids.  It's always great to see them and it was nice to talk to them.

Sunday morning Matt, Andrew and I went to church at Fellowship Bible Church for Easter Service.  It was nice seeing everyone at church again and the Pastor gave a great service.  After church we headed to my parents for Easter lunch and some family time.  My sister, Mark, Mark's kids, Grandma Hamm, Aunt Audrey, Grandpa Galon, Grandma Carol, my parents and us all had a wonderful meal and some fellowship time.

My mom made my favorite meal in the whole wide world, lasagna!!! It was delicious!!!

After dinner we went outside and enjoyed the weather.  Andrew blew bubbles with Grandpa.

Kids were throwing the football around.

Then we came in for some dessert

Sugar coma...

After our break we headed outside for an Easter egg hunt.

After that we headed back home to Columbia! Overall it was a great weekend and it was so nice to see everyone!

Daycare and house update

Andrew had his first day of daycare last week!  It makes me so happy that he gets to play and interact with other toddlers his age. He is going to Columbia's Finest Child Development Center and it's literally down the street from our house.  It's great because on nice days we have been walking down to drop him off and pick him up.  I drop him off at 8 am, they wash their hands and eat breakfast.  Then throughout the day he plays with the other kids in his class which are also 1, art time, music time, lunch, nap, snack, outside time if it's nice, work on numbers 1-10 and other developmental things.  It took a couple of days for him to get used the new nap time schedule but today he slept through most of the 2 hour nap.  This was great because he wasn't cranky pants when he got home lol.

First day of daycare

He has his own little cubicle at daycare! So cute!

Happy guy when he came home! He wouldn't sit still lol.

I thought his first week of daycare went great.  This week has gone well also.  Tomorrow they are having their Easter party!

The house unpacking is going well.  We have most of the boxes unpacked upstairs.  The basement is a different story lol.  We spend more of our time upstairs so it might be a while before the basement gets finished. Last week our new appliances were delivered to the house! It's amazing how well things cook in a brand new oven! It's actually cooking things too quickly.  May have to place a thermometer in it to double check the temperature.

New fridge with freezer on the bottom.

Made chocolate chip cookies the other night to test out the oven.

Enjoy some phone photos!

Andrew playing in his room.

Finally found some sippy cups that he can drink out of.

Working on our spoon skills.

Finally decorating the house with pictures!

Finally got around to changing the pictures out in this frame!

One of my favorite pictures!

Decorating the office.

This weekend we will be in Olathe for a friends baby shower and then Easter lunch at my parents house.

Nanny

On March 17, 2014 the family lost an amazing woman.  I only knew Alice or as everyone in the family called her, Nanny, for a few years but what a privilege it was.  She was 101 when she passed away and she lived a full life.  I enjoyed spending 4 Christmas' with her and was so happy that she was able to come to the wedding and meet Andrew.  She will be greatly missed but is now with her husband and two sons.

This was the last time we saw Nanny. We were in Minneola for Christmas 2013.

We were all able to get together in Hays for a couple of days and spend some quality family time together. We went drove to Hays and met everyone at Nanny's house.  Mike, Stephanie, Myranda, Preston, Butch, and Sandy were already there.  Jim, Michele, Alissa and McKenzie were on their way as well.  We went to JD's Chicken House for dinner, which was a favorite of Nanny's.  After dinner, we all enjoyed some pool and hot tub time together.

Sunday we went back to Nanny's to help Butch go through and move some things.

Nanny never threw anything. How old do you think this Luvs box is?

A coffee grinder I found upstairs that I was able to keep.  Thanks to the family for letting me have it.  It will be proudly displayed in my new kitchen!

Some of Butch's toys from 60 years ago.

Monday was the funeral.  It was a lovely service and it was very nice to say goodbye to Nanny.

Flowers from the Winslow family

More beautiful flowers

Flowers from Mike, Steph, Mitch, Carolyn, Matt, Michelle and kids

I was able to take home a flower from the service and Hailey gave me her flower.
You will be missed Nanny :)
